I have a doorlemma

So recently my husband and my dad installed AN ACTUAL DOOR in Fort Lester which gives me an extra 3 feet of wall space!  Yeah, that's right.  Three.Whole.Feet.  And a real door, with a real lock, with real keys, it's a wonderful and amazing feeling!  I don't feel like we're constantly under construction!  It feels more like a house, it's so great!  But...unfortunately the best laid plans of mice and men...you see they are boys *ok men but you get the point* the men appear to have gotten SOMETHING on our once pristine, white door.  Several spots actually and of course they are black marks, a few seem to be black sharpie, and I do not know what the rest is.  I've been scrubbing all weekend with multiple cleaners and it's just NOT working.  I don't have a lot of money to work with right now so I'm trying to come up with some ideas to cover at least the bigger spots up.

this is the view from the inside a deffinite improvement over the plywood barn doors I'd had for a year but obviously we had some construction left lol

In the custom of my carpenter family any wall or just anything really that is going to be covered up but someday will have to be opened again for repairs or changes we write on, leave notes and dates, or just write names and whats happening in the world!  My husband wrote a note to me on our wall ♥ we each wrote something and didn't let the other see it until we were finished I felt a litttttle bad after reading his LOL because the below picture is what I wrote to him...

And this is what it looks like with all that extra wall!!!! And the door!  I LOVE it...but like I said there are just a bunch of markings and other yucky spots on it we can't seem to get rid of it's a metal door and my dad said it's probably been like that since we got it.

So I'm brainstorming, hang up a calendar, a coat rack, a picture?  Any other ideas???  Painting it is going to be hard because we're in the middle of winter weather here and spray paint is really the only way to go...and we'd have to pop the door out of it's hinges paint it outside and put it back.  Any ideas would be amazing because right now my husband is sitting here telling to drape a scarf over the top of the door...HELP ME...please.

The bedding crisis has been HANDLED!

So, as you may or may not remember not so long ago we had a Massive Bedding Crisis the material our bedding was made of just caused everything to stick to it...ugh!  and It was just a little to dark for our fresh new look.  So with the oppinions of a few of you Lovelyyy ladies and an amazing price from Overstock.com and really just a deal I could not pass up I chose our current bed set...a 25 piece room set for 100 dollars!

And I thought maybe y'all would like to see it...so here ya are...what do ya think?

this isn't all of it just the comforter and all the beautiful pillows!  The white throw is from pier 1
I really am crazy about the colors the yellows and blues!  And even the light browns!  Also I was shocked when I got it because it looks NOTHING like the picture on the website and I like it SO much more than I thought I was going to!

So thank you for reading, and to the ladies who gave their oppinions on my previous post THANK YOU for steering me in the right direction!  We couldn't be happier!

A New Look

So, I got a haircut a while back...long layers, short bangs...

I hadn't had anything done to my hair for almost a year and I LOVE it!  So it got me thinking, a new look equals a new outlook!  What else can I change up to give me a new and fresh attitude towards my life?!  I haven't done much to Fort Lester since we first got settled up in here, but now that My husband is home I'm planning on changing things up QUITE A BIT!  And I am SO excited!  Our room is a cool blue-gray and much lighter than I've ever painted a room!  But I absolutely adore the color and I've never ever been one for 'blues' but this color is so calming, peaceful, and sweet!  I can't get over how nice it came out!  Glad I took a chance!  I'm wanting to get a very clean feel, and if possible an antique, and country look!

Any Ideas?  What colors do you like?  What is the look that you are going for in your home?

So I hope you stick around and catch all the updates to our little home!

Easy Fall Decorating!

This is my favorite piece of anything that I own, it's white, it's beautiful and I saved it from a trash can fate at my grandmother's with some super glue!  And now I use it for everything.  And I mean any party or holiday that happens it's the center piece of my dreams because you can do anything with it...pure bliss I tell you its so stinkin' versatile!
So I'm posting this before Thanksgiving, I've been planning this since October keep in mind.  But Fall is not technically over so I can still post this guilt-free!  If you're not a DIY Diva, a Martha Stewart (even if you worship the ground she walks on), if you don't have bucket loads of money to spend, and almost no time to spend decorating as well...then you are awfully similar to me and these ideas might appeal to you!  Or you can make fun of my amateur attempts at seasonal decorations!  Either way enjoy a couple pictures of what I've been doing and somethings that have really helped me out this year!

I cannot bring myself to put out things that say 'happy harvest', or turkeys, or cornucopia's, or anything like that.  In the small space that I have I am one pilgrim away from looking like a Big Lots sale...in the limited space I have it just wouldn't look cute it would look tacky and that's sad because I love little pilgrims and stuff but I'll mourn that all later.  SO anyway I needed to do something a little more natural, a little less obvious!  I needed it to blend with my every day stuff.  So...

I used different pumpkins, gourds, and Indian corn!  These pumpkins are my favorites (all minis mind you) the two lighter colored ones are called Cinderella Pumpkins and in the second picture on this blog you'll see I placed my Cinderella pumpkins right by my Scentsy warmer and my little Hallmark saying from Cinderella!  These little pumpkins were super cheap at my local supermarket, very cute, and the PERFECT size!  I just slipped them in next to my year-round decorations and they really added a nice fall touch, they looked very natural!

This is about as cutesy as I got, mine isn't very good please keep in mind!  I got the idea from The Inspired Room!  An AMAZING blog!  I love it!  This is different scrapbook papers cut into pumpkins shapes and glued onto more of my favorite scrapbook paper and old scrabble letters at the bottom!

I love working in things that remind me of my husband without filling our walls with pictures of US lol, so his old hat is really good for that he left it for me when he was on R&R from Afghanistan...it is a VERY dirty hat but he won't let me wash it *sigh*.  And then of course Febreeze, this is the best scent they have ever come out with!!! It's a limited edition pumpkin harvest&Fall it smells AMAZING go pick some up now while you can!  And that pretty bow is just my favorite, such a good color.  Champagne is my favorite color, it looks so nice with everything!

The above are some of my everyday things...

Now this monstrosity I do not urge anyone to duplicate lol this is what happens when you have 3 triple shot venti Iced Tuxedos from starbucks in two hours, can't sleep, and just got a new glue gun...you make weird...little mini wreaths with leftover fabric, and sparkly pine cones...feel free to laugh and point...♥... And now I'll show you a picture of the top of my desk where I did most of my decorating, because that is the only place I have space!  I used ribbons I had laying around tied them around things into pretty bows, tried to keep things warm and easy, strategically placed gourds tied it all together, and I used some leftover chocolate brown fabric to as a kind of table runner for it all to sit on!  What I really advice you doing is working in your everyday stuff and your seasonal stuff, that way it's not to hard to switch once December kicks in!

Sorry it's so dark!  It was night and looked pretty lol, those are pictures of my husband and both of my grandfathers all of who were/are in the military!  Love working in the family photos and the inspirational Disney saying...♥

So how do you decorate for fall?  Do you have lots of space or only a little?  Do you have that one piece you just can't decorate without???
