Chores of the week a nod to 'Ma' Ingalls

*Love this cover not only is it one of my favorites in the series it also has Ma on the cover*

Anyone who has ever read any of the little house books by Laura Ingalls Wilder is familiar with her mother 'Ma' Ingalls.  I can't put into words how amazing those books are or how they touched me as a child and continue to influence me to this day.  Laura's mother had a way of doing chores that Laura later adopted.  A certain chore for each day.  Well my mother and I share cleaning products, washing machine, dryer.  And it just gets to much to do it all in the same day.  So I decided to come up with a chore schedule for myself, so we wouldn't be trying to use the same things all at once.  Well how on earth was I to put a schedule together?  I had no ideas, or the ones I had were ridiculously complicated.  And somehow I remembered reading about the chores of the week in one of my little house books and I dug up the schedule it goes as follows

  1. Wash on Monday
  2. Iron on Tuesday
  3. Mend on Wednesday
  4. Churn on Thursday
  5. Clean on Friday
  6. Bake on Saturday
  7. Rest on Sunday

Well *thankfully* I don't really have to mend much, and I definitely do NOT have to churn.  So those days will be getting tweaked a bit to fit my lifestyle!  But I just love the over all idea, saying, the thought behind it, and after all who doesn't love a good schedule???  So here is what mine will look like!

  1. Wash on Monday
  2. Iron on Tuesday *also ORGANIZING the closet of doom since we don't have much room its so bad its getting a designated cleaning day*
  3. Mend on Wednesday *on the off chance something actually needs mending I'm going to keep this but it will also serve as sewing day! any kind of sewing craft or project...this is the day for it!*
  4. Craft on Thursday *this will be any and all projects {including food projects} and craft and church both start with a C so i felt good about it*
  5. Clean on Friday
  6. Bake on Saturday
  7. Rest on Sunday

Well I'm super stoked about this whole thing and I hope I can follow it pretty well!  Do you have a cleaning schedule?  Did you like the 'little house' books?  Did you pick up any habits from those books?

I love that! That was one of my favorite things in the books. Yeah, I don't see churning in my future either. ;) Although, I probably need to put mending on my schedule too since I have a PILE of things that need to have buttons sewn back on and that need to be hemmed...but I hate sewing lol!
